Description Mynox® is the first biological reagent that eliminates mycoplasma by killing them, and not just by inhibiting growth. Mynox® can be applied to most cell lines and is the only anti-mycoplasma agent that can be used to clean virus stocks directly. The cytotoxicity of Mynox® is low. |

Not an antibiotic Highly effective Fast Universal Kills mycoplasma, but safe for cells |
Background
For both biological and economical reasons, it is important to eliminate mycoplasma from cell cultures used for basic research, diagnosis, quality testing, and biotechnological production. The most commonly used method for elimination, inactivation, or suppression of mycoplasma in cell cultures is treatment with antibiotics. In general, anti biotic therapies do not result in long lasting, successful elimination. Also, the cytotoxic properties of antibiotics can cause undesirable side effects on eukaryotic cells and can facilitate the development of resistant mycoplasma strains. The Mynox® method for mycoplasma elimination overcomes all of these drawbacks with its unique features as compared to other methods and products.
Biological Activity of Mynox®
Mycoplasma are extracellular parasites that lack a cell wall making them resis tant to many antibiotics. Mynox® is a biological agent that integrates selectively into the mycoplasma membrane and compromises its integrity. The result is an osmotic influx that leads to the complete disintegration of the mycoplasma membrane. With mycoplasma eradicated, cells can immediately return to their native morphology and normal proliferation rates. To date, Mynox® has not been shown to cause any changes in normal cell characteristics. Mynox® is easily removed after treatment by re placing the culture medium.
Mynox® is intended for research use only. Not recommended for clinical treatment. Store the original container at temperatures of +2 to + 8 °C.
Format
Mynox® is a sterile, ready-to-use solution, aliquoted per tube for single use.
