Veterinary Diagnostics | Venor® MGS:
Conventional PCR for Mycoplasma gallisepticum & Mycoplasma synoviae

Cat.-No. 50-1050              50 Tests

Description
Venor®MGS is a conventional PCR kit for detection and specification of the mycoplasma species M. gallisepticum and M. synoviae known to be associated with poultry. The kit can be used for the detection of contaminants in biological materials derived from avian sources or for quality control of biological products made for poultry industry. The kit can also be used in veterinary applications screening poultry flocks for these pathogens. PCR has been established as the method for highest sensitivity of pathogen detection in poultry samples providing extremely fast results.

Venor MGS

Sensitive
Requiring as little as 5 mycoplasma per sample volume.

Specific
The specificity is greater than 99%. Primer set specific for highly conserved membrane protein coding segment of the pathogen genome.

Reliable
Through incorporation of positive control DNA and internal control DNA for option al PCR quality check.

Eur. Ph. 2.6.7
Applicable for testing according the European Pharmacopoeia guidelines for mycoplasma testing of avian materials (specific validation required).

Simple
One easy-to-follow, step-by-step protocol detects both mycoplasma species in a single multiplex reaction.

Veterinary Background
Mycoplasma synoviae (MS) is a known pathogen associated with the development of synovitis and chronic respiratory disease in chickens and turkeys. Clinical symptoms include joint swelling, coryza and respiratory rales. Economic losses due to MS infection include reduced egg production, lowered hatchability of chicks and downgraded meat quality.
Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) is associated with chronic respiratory disease in chickens and infectious sinusitis in turkeys. The symptoms generally seen are coryza, coughing, nasal exudate and respiratory rales. Economic losses due to MG infection include reduced egg production, lowered hatchability of chicks and downgraded meat quality.

Eur. Ph. Background
PCR can be used for the detection of mycoplasma in biopharmaceutical products according to the Eur. Ph. 2.6.7. MS has to be tested where there is use of or exposure to avian material during production. MG can be used as reference standard alternatively for M. pneumoniae within the test procedure.

Test Principle
Venor®MGS diagnostic kit utilizes the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which was established as the method of choice for highest sensitivity in the detection of mycoplasma infections. Venor®MGS diagnostics requires as little as 5 myco plasma per sample volume.
The supplied primer set is specific for a highly conserved membrane protein coding segment of the genome of each pathogen.

Kit Components

  • primer set and nucleotides at optimized concentrations
  • 10x reaction buffer optimized for many Taq polymerases
  • positive control for easy result verification
  • internal control to ensure accurate testing
  • instruction manual & storage box

Note: Taq DNA polymerase is not included.
We highly recommend MB Taq DNA Polymerase (Cat. No. 53-0200).
