Metanephrines in Urine

The term "metanephrines" is used for the primary metabolites of the catecholamines, i.e. metanephrine (M), normetanephrine (NM), and 3-methoxytyramine (MT). The determination of catecholamines and their metabolites is used to detect or rule out tumors of the sympathoadrenal system (pheochromocytoma and other neuroendocrine tumors).

The sample preparation of this test kit features particular user friendlyness for laboratory routine. For a safe and convenient pH-value adjustment of the urine samples a special diluting reagent with colour indicator is available. The distinct colouring of the indicator assures that the analyte extraction is performed under appropriate pH conditions (pH > 6).

Alternatively to this method with manual sample preparation, RECIPE offers ClinRep® complete kits for the use with automatic pipetting systems from RECIPE (order nos. 4300-4400) and Gilson® (order nos. 4100-4200).
